- Technically speaking, when you sign up for eWitness using your Google account, we can get your profile information directly from Google. However, we decided we have no use for that information so we don’t ask Google for the information.
- Your pictures and videos are stored on your phone in a folder called eWitness. Even after you uninstall eWitness, your folder will remain on your phone.
- We don’t backup your pictures or videos into our servers because that would be expensive and we are not in the business of selling or otherwise using your media in any way.
- When you use eWitness to take pictures or record videos, your location, time, pseudo identification and a unique hash/fingetprint of the picture or video is stored in the eWitness backend database and blockchain. This serves as a digital forensics artifact for your media that proves the authenticity of the media.
- Your media stays on your phone. We don’t sync your media to our cloud servers. Remember, if you delete your media, the digital forensics artifact is NOT automatically deleted.
- Nothing can be deleted from the blockchain, but if you request, we will delete the digital forensics artifact from our database.
